03 May 2008 Aliwan Festival Streetdance Competition Aliw Theater
Just 2 photos from the Aliwan Festival last Saturday. I have lots to share but I still wasn't able to process them yet. OJT work is getting in the way. :( I have to process my photos from the UNILAB rehearsals first. :/ Hmph. (I'll upload the other photos soon.)
Anyhoo...
I was with: Nikki, Rej, Anna, JC & his gf, Mic, Ronin & Gwen. Foz & Tolentz were there, and I saw some familiar faces from DPP too. :]
Nikki, Rej & I were on our way to Quirino Grandstand when the rained poured at around 4pm. We were supposed to shoot and follow the parade. :( We had no choice but to run to Harbour Square and wait for news if the Aliwan Festival will push through. The others came while we were waiting.
The Festival did push through. It was delayed for almost 2 hours though.
The theater grounds was jampacked with people. The photographer's area couldn't be seen and we didn't know where to go. We walked around the perimeter of the area trying to look for an entrance where we could squeeze in. We saw some policemen and asked where we're supposed to go in.
"Boss, pano po pumasok? San po yung photographer's area?" "Ah may ID ba kayo?" "Wala po...... *silence* .. pero sabi po samin may "special area" para sa photographers eh. san po kami papasok?" "Ahhhh... ganun ba. *looks at us* ... dun kayo pumasok sa gilid."
Then we found an entrance. That was "guarded" by soldiers.
"Kuya, san po kami ppwesto?" "..." *stares at us* "..." *raises eyebrow and stares back* "...Teka lang. Pasok kayo after nito."
Then we went in. Akala ata taga-media kami. :P Then I saw some DPP and Pipho members na wala ring ID. Mga media kuno! :D Hahaha.
We found a good spot in the middle but when we started shooting a huge bouncer shooed us off to the sides when they realized that we don't have IDs. We sneaked back near the front when the soldiers weren't looking. :P It was pretty hard to shoot during the competition proper. :/ I didn't know how to use the flash that I borrowed from BJ and even if the nice man from the Pipho forums tried to teach me how to use it, it wasn't really helpful. I had to boost my ISO to 1600 or 3200. :/ Oh well. At least I got a few nice shots and I am yet to process them within the week (sana).
Next year I plan to go to the festival again and I hope it doesn't rain. :/ I envy those who were lucky to shoot the tribes while they were preparing/rehearsing. :P
you envy those who were lucky to shoot the tribes while they were preparing/rehearsing?? we envy you daph! kami nga hindi nakapasok sa photogs. corner, nandun kami sa likod naghahanap ng masisingitan, pero kahit anong gawin namin di kami makapasok! hahaha! *congrats in advance daph!
hehehe. :]
